Funky Fridays

This is a very cool way to end the week and is a time that is most enjoyable! Parents and teachers take a small group of students for a range of activities. Past examples include judo, chocolate making, pottery, stone carving, Lego, lunch making, games, mobiles, Bush craft, archery and origami. Funky Friday is a great way to cater for a range of diverse needs and introduce students to new skillsWe run this for a few weeks each year if we can get support from our community to do so.

Please contact the school if you can help.

Pet Day / Group Day

Linkwater School holds an annual Pet Day usually during the first week of Term four, co-ordinated by the school community parents.  The day has indoor and outdoor events and all children get a choice of the scheduled categories i.e. either indoor crafts and/or (farm or pet) animals or both.  The winners of the specified scheduled categories then proceed to Group Day, which is hosted by a volunteer Marlborough School, and then if successful can (voluntarily) proceed onto the annual Marlborough Agricultural Show.  Information for this activity is given out prior to the end of term three to enable the children to prepare their craft or animal over the term break in readiness for Pet Day.

Pelorus Schools' Cluster Events

Canvastown School, Havelock School, Rai Valley Area School, Waitaria Bay School and Linkwater School make up the cluster of Pelorus Schools. As a cluster we meet several times throughout the year to compete in swimming, atheletics and cross country running. We also join together for sport skills coaching, tournaments and speech competitions.

Spring Fair & Mid Winter Dinner and Auction Night

In the middle of the year the Friends of Linkwater School (F.O.L.S) raise funds for our school by holding a mid-winter dinner. In the past this has been a mid- winter Christmas, curry nights, and of late a dinner, auction and dance gala at the Queen Charlotte Tavern. Tickets sell out fast as the auction is run by Bailey's Real Estate and always makes for a fun night out.

Labour Weekend is our big fundraising weekend.   It's one big fun weekend with all parents, and many of the community involved.  The fair is well known for plants and it is the perfect time just on labour weekend to plant your vegetable garden. Come and join us !

Matariki  Celebrations with the Linkwater Community

Every year the school and local community gather to celebrate Matariki. This is held in the Community Hall and is a special time to reflect on the past and look to the future. Everyone works together to contribute to a hāngi and a great celebration is had by all. We look forward to your support for this great community event.
